We love the wild and wide expanses of Africa and the magnificent people and animals that live there. It is a continent with incredibly rich traditions, histories and diversity, but also one that faces enormous challenges and threats. We want to make a difference.
Each year we will produce a special blend of Pinot Noir in which 100% of the profits will be dedicated to projects that support wildlife and the local communities that share their lands.
WHAT IS AFRICA QUEST?
Our quest is for an Africa where wildlife habitats are protected and endangered species coexist and thrive with their human counterparts. Can you imagine the world without elephants, rhinos, and lions?
Unfortunately, it is all too real a possibility. So please join us to protect these endangered animals and the wonderful people who live in the same natural areas. Each year we will select a project in Africa to support. We will do so in consultation with our trusted conservation nonprofit organizations, and with an eye towards projects that our support can make a meaningful impact.
This year, 100% of profits from the sales of 2016 Africa Quest Pinot Noir will be donated to the Samburu Veterinary Project.
THE SAMBURU VET PROJECT
This year, our goal is to provide funds to help support the operating budget of the Samburu Vet Project for the next five years—which includes the hiring of a veterinarian to cover the Samburu region, two wildlife rangers, a laboratory, a vehicle and all of the supplies to run the laboratory.
Samburu is in northern Kenya and is an arid area with the Ewaso River flowing through it. It is a very special habitat for many animals—including elephants, lions and Grevy Zebras—that will greatly benefit from the care of the Samburu Vet Project. Not only will the vet care for the animals of the region, he or she will also care for the young at the newly opened Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. It is an exciting project that our friends at Save the Elephants, Grevy Zebra Trust and Ewaso Lions believe will greatly benefit the wildlife of the region.
2016 AFRICA QUEST pinot noir
Our inaugural release is the 2016 Africa Quest Pinot Noir. We have produced only 144 cases of this three-appellation blend made by our extraordinary winemaker, Jeff Gaffner. The three animals we have selected to highlight on the labels are the magnificent elephant, the majestic lion, and the highly endangered Grevy Zebra.
For every bottle of Africa Quest wine that you purchase, $40 will be donated to the Samburu Vet Project.
We are selling it in three bottle increments (with one bottle each having a label with an elephant, lion and Gevry Zebra). You may purchase 3 bottles, 6 bottles, 9 bottles or 12 bottles (and if you would like to purchase more than 12 bottles, please let us know and we will try to make that possible). Ground shipping to addresses in the United States is included, along with our great thanks for helping support our quest.
